Schmidt’s cabinetmakers opened its doors for the first time in 1959 in Upington. The founder of the business mr Arthur Ignatius Schmidt is still very actively involved in the making of the furniture. Mr. Schmidt had his training in Germany where he worked for 10 years to perfect his workmanship as a cabinetmaker, furniture maker, joiner and builder. At Ohtrani furniture there is no such thing as mass production. In the construction of the furniture we still make use of mortice joints. This process insures that the furniture does not distort or crack.
